Tim Abshire is well respected as an actor’s director, whether it be celebrity icon or background extra. He has worked with personalities as diverse as Drew Barrymore, Howard Stern, Derek Jeter, Jeff Goldblum, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Alice Cooper, Triple H and Sheryl Crow, plus thousands of hopefuls whose faces you might one day see on TMZ.
Tim’s true talent lies in storytelling and developing characters, while seamlessly integrating them into the identity of each brand. As a relentless observer of human behavior, Tim celebrates the unique characteristics of each situation and guides them into stories that are amazingly fun to watch.
Tim started his career at MTV in the On-Air Promos department in New York City. Empowered by the freedom to be a director, writer, editor and creative director for all of the major shows on the channel, Tim won both the coveted Gold Cube and Gold Pencil awards for directing MTV Video Music Awards commercials featuring Ben Stiller, Dave Grohl, Marilyn Manson and the Wu Tang Clan. His wide range of work includes staging fights on set with Jerry Springer, playing hide and seek with Courtney Love, and teaching Chris Rock how to rap.
After 6 years of creating content and commercials for MTV, Tim jumped headfirst into the world of commercial advertising, directing for hundreds of brands including Google, ESPN, Walmart, Playstation, Kia, Febreze, Volkswagen, Coca Cola and Taco Bell, with top agencies such as Grey Worldwide, Wieden & Kennedy, Ogilvy & Mather, davidandgoliath, and Leo Burnett.
